Blademaster Build Basics

Blademaster Build Guide Basics
From my experience with playing Perfect World International, I have found some really off the wall builds.  This applies to all classes.  To some extent I can understand experiments.  But I am not speaking in experiments here.  I am going to provide you with solid and proven Blademaster Build Information, to help you create the best Blademaster that you can.  Below is what I would consider as basic information you will need in order to build your Perfect world Blademaster the right way.

Understanding your Blademaster
Blademasters are considered a melee class damage dealer.  They are not going to out damage the Archers or Wizards, in 1v1 situations, but for multiple mobs there is no class better.  The skills that a blademaster poses make them a perfect complement to most squads, and an excellent solo class character.  With a self heal, several stun skills and Aoe’s, Blademasters thrive when things go wrong.  And can be a Cleric or Barbarian’s best friend.

In a solo setting, a blademaster can do ample damage verse a single mob, and with the ability to heal yourself, and high HP, blademasters can survive with very little need of health potions.  Not to say that having both a HP and MP charm are not extremely useful, they are just not necessary for typical questing and mobs.

In a Squad setting, Blademasters have a couple roles they can and will fill.  In squads, playing as a blademaster can be difficult, because it is your primary job to help with mob control.  Mobs that break loose from the tank will need to be your primary focus, in order to keep your damage dealers and healers alive, you will need to perfect your stuns and aoe’s in order to control mob aggro, and limit damage taken by the rest of your squad.  When your tank is able to hold all the mobs aggro, it is your job to assist the tank in quickly disposing of the mobs.  With the understanding that your tank will be your clerics' primary responsibility, you will often be forced to heal yourself.  This is no slight to you, but your death is less likely to result in party wipe, than a tank going down.

Understanding Blademaster Statistics
For every level gained, Blademasters receive increases in some of their statistics.  HP, and MP being the primary focus here.  For every level Gained, you will receive 30hp and 18mp.  This gives a blademaster a naturally high HP level and a fairly low MP level.  It is common to find blademasters using HP charms or potions, but, in my opinion, MP charms and potions can be just as valuable, and even more so.  Other very useful items for a solo blademaster will be life powders and focus powders, increasing our HP and MP regeneration rates.  Of course this can be said for any class.

You also receive 1 point to your base physical attack, there are a few levels you will receive 2 points, but the effect is minimal and not really critical to consider.

Dexterity
As a blademaster, you will want to juggle your statistics very carefully, something often overlooked is the fact that Dexterity plays a very important role in your blademaster build.  Blademaster’s receive the most benefit from Dexterity.  For every 1 dexterity point added you increase your accuracy by 10 and your evasion by 10.  It is often overlooked, especially for blademasters who are focused on axes.

Vitality
Vitality is an area that can be viewed in different ways.  As a PvP blademaster, it will be important to add Vitality to your build.  Going against other classes, like Wizards and Psychics can be very tough if your vitality is too low, because your magical defenses are not great and going against the wrong magical damage dealer, you can find yourself being downed within a couple of hits.  But, as a PvE player, you will not take hits as hard as the ones that can be dished out by the Wizards or Psychics, leaving you with less need to add Vitality.  But, I leave the discretion to you; Blademasters do receive 15HP per vitality point added, which is the second best in the game, behind Barbarians.

Strength
Strength is critical in your blademaster build.  In many ways a necessary evil.  The benefits from strength are minimal Physical defense increase, Base Physical Damage increase and a minimal weapon damage multiplier.  The Physical defense is consistent, adding  0.25 per 1 Strength point, and the weapon damage multiplier actually decreases as you add more strength, starting at around 1.5 your weapon damage, going down to about 1.2.  The effects are minimal for all the strength bonuses, and for a blademaster, that will already need high levels of strength in order to either wear heavy armor of carry axes, you do not need any more than your minimum.  As a side not, you need 2.5 strength per level for Heavy armor and 3.0 to carry axes.

Magic
There is nothing to be said for magic, the only benefit you get from it is added MP, and you will only receive 9MP per vitality added.  Under no circumstances do I recommend you add magic to your build, it is a waste of attribute points.

Blademaster Gear
For a blademaster, your armor will be Heavy armor.  Many people feel that Light armor is acceptable for Claw/Fist blademasters, but I could not disagree more with that concept.  You are a Melee Class, meaning all your battles will be from close range, close range damage is mostly physical damage, and your survivability will be severely hurt by wearing light armor.  Not to mention your Buff is a Physical defense buff multiplier and the lower your base physical defense is, the less benefits you receive from your buff.

Ornaments can be Elemental though, they give you a little addition to your elemental defenses at very little cost of your physical defenses.  I would say this is acceptable, but not required.

Weapons are Claws/Fists, Swords/Blades, Poles, and Axes.  All weapons have different statistical requirements and all weapons have different strengths and weaknesses.  I will cover that quickly, for more details I will suggest you look at my Ultimate Perfect world Blademaster Build Guide.

Claws/Fists
Claws and fists offer the highest DPS in the blademasters arsenal, they are highly under rated, I would not recommend that they be your primary weapon. But as an alternate they are perfectly suited for 1v1, and with the higher DPS and Casting canceling skill, they can offer you the ability to take and hold aggro if you are forced into a tank role.  They are also great for boss fights when you need the most damage over a period of time.

Swords/Blades
Swords and blades are the real tweener weapon.  They have no great strengths but also have no great weaknesses.  They are very quick and have high DPS, and also a great 1v1 weapon.

Poles
With poles you get range, poles give you distance to your attacks, with linear AOE’s and an additional bleed.  Poles are best suited when fighting mobs that run, and attack from a distance.  They are slower than the other two weapons, but offer better single strike damage than both the Sword and Claw.

Axes
Axes are considered by many as the Blademasters best weapon.  I happen to be one of those people.  Axes offer the crowd control that I have talked about, with many radial AOE’s and the most stuns, axes can provide the most carnage per hit than any other weapon.  They are the slowest weapon available to blademasters, but also carry the highest single hit, spike damage.  Axes, in my mind should play a role in all blademaster builds.

Skills and Genies are covered in my Ultimate Blademaster Guide, look there for information.

I hope this information gives you a stronger understanding of what a Blademaster is and how to correctly build your blademaster.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free.
